Community Service Projects

Alabama Power is marking its 25th anniversary by launching a campaign to support 25 community service projects this fall.  The campaign is led by the Alabama Power Service Organization.  Company employees and their families will pitch in to volunteer at the more than two dozen organizations across the state over the next few months.  However, community service isn’t a new concept for the utility company. We caught up with some Alabama Power employees today at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in Anniston. They were there to volunteer with the “Meals on Wheels” program.  About 20 Alabama Power employees rotate every other Thursday to help deliver the meals to homebound people in the community. The Alabama Power Service Organization has more than ten chapters with more than 5,500 volunteers across the state.  APSO members donate more than 50,000 volunteer hours each year to more than 200 organizations.
