Domestic Violence Awareness

Governor Robert Bentley has declared October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. He read the proclamation last night at a candlelight vigil hosted by his wife, First Lady, Dianne Bentley. Mrs. Bentley is a longtime advocate of Domestic Violence Awareness. During last night’s vigil, the capitol, the statehouse and the governor’s mansion were lit in purple and will remain that way throughout October. According to the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in three women in the U.S. will become a victim of abuse in her lifetime. Anyone who needs help getting out of an abusive situation can call 1-800-650-6522 or help anytime.
