School Alert System Being Tested

When tragedy strikes a school, every second counts. That’s why Oxford school officials, working with Oxford Police, are testing a new emergency alert system at DeArmanville Elementary School. Roy Bennett, student services coordinator for Oxford schools, says the system was recommended by Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge. Each teacher in the school will now wear a button they can press in case of emergency. Bennett says the police chief told him this new system could save between 5 and 8 minutes over the traditional 911 service, and those minutes could be precious in an emergency. Bennett was asked how much the new emergency notification system cost the school board for DeArmanville Elementary.
