Etowah Small Business of the Year Awards

Today was a day to recognize small businesses as The Chamber of Gadsden and Etowah County held its annual Small Business Awards Luncheon. Small business supporters from throughout the county gathered at the Pittman Theater to honor local businesses with the special awards. The Bronze Business of the Year – serving the community for 25 years or more – went to The Glen Williams Agency. The Silver Business of the Year – serving for 50 years or more – went to Observer Office Supply. Cooks Pest Control was named the Gold Business of the Year having served the area for more than 75 years…and the Centennial Business of the Year – for 100 years or more – went to The Gadsden Times. The New Business of the Year Award went to King’s Olive Oil Company. The Minority or Woman-Owned Business of the Year Award was presented to Velocity Food and Spirits…and the Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center received the Non-Profit of the Year Award. The Small Business of the Year with 25 or fewer employees went to Absolute Fitness and the award for the business with 25-50 employees went to BD Welch Construction. The third annual Friend of Small Business Award was presented to Joanne Hightower – the director of the Etowah County United Way – and the second annual Community Improvement Award went to Laney Moss Beckwith of Events on Court.
