Jury Recommends Life Sentence

A jury has recommended life without parole for a man convicted of killing two former Auburn football players and third man. Earlier this week, 24-year-old Desmonte Leonard was convicted of capital murder, three counts of assault and attempted murder. Prosecutors claim Leonard shot Ed Christian, Ladarious Phillips and Demario Pitts in June 2012. Leonard's defense attorneys argued that his client fired the shots in self-defense during a fight at a party near Auburn. Prosecutors disputed that and said Leonard aimed at the victims. A judge will make the final decision on Leonard's sentence on November 5.
