Authorities in three counties looked for murder suspects over the weekend. Michael Johnson was shot multiple times at his home on County Road 578 in Fyffe by Ben McClure. Sheriff Jimmy Harris says McClure was arrested for murder and James Wooten of Powell was arrested for hindering prosecution after they were taken into custody following the shooting Saturday night. Wooten was taken into custody just before midnight by Investigators near Powell. McClure was identified and located near Antioch close to the Jackson-DeKalb line on County Road 538. McClure held several people hostage while he was still in possession of the assault rifle used in the murder. He had made threats he would not go to jail without a fight. Harris says both suspects were later taken into custody without incident. McClure is being held in the DeKalb County Detention Center awaiting bond. Johnson’s body was taken to Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville for autopsy.
