Gadsden State Community College and the Alabama Technology Network are celebrating manufacturing with a series of special classes taking place this week on the school’s East Broad Campus in Gadsden. The classes are being offered for free to local manufacturing companies and include topics like industrialized maintenance, safety, robotics and more. The celebration of manufacturing is also used to remind students and job-seekers about the high-tech, specialized nature of modern manufacturing - and its value to the U.S. economy. Celebrate Manufacturing Week also highlights the impact that manufacturing facilities have on their communities – from providing safe, state-of-the-art work environments to allowing their employees to maintain a nice standard of living. Manufacturing supports more than 17 million jobs in the U.S. with an average annual salary of $77,000 and comprises nearly 12 and a half percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product.
