Pink Out Jacksonville
More than 500 Calhoun County residents including J-S-Us Cocky put on the color pink in all forms, today in Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Professional Fire Fighters Association hosted "Pink Out Jacksonville" on the city square. Guardians of the Ribbon from Orange Beach brought their Pink Fire Truck "Cindy" and Fire Car "Shelly" for cancer survivors to sign. Local 3948 Jacksonville Professional Firefighter's Association President David Bell says the truck makes people stop in their tracks. Support groups like Venecia Foundation and Steel Magnolias were also there with information about their services. 5 Time Cancer Survivor and Venecia Foundation Founder Venecia Butler says she has become a fighter since her first diagnosis in 2006. Butler says her foundation raised more than $13,000 in its 2nd annual Crap Run. The run is a 5k run and fundraiser that brings awareness to the disease Event participants say today was about bringing compassion to all people affected by cancer.
