Talladega Superspeedway put on a special event today, to celebrate preparation for the fred’s 250 Powered by Coca-Cola NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Drivers Erik Jones and Ben Kennedy re-enacted the historic photo of Kennedy’s Great Grandfather. Kennedy’s great grandfather is NASCAR and Talladega Superspeedway Founder Bill France, Sr. The photo is of him selling race tickets on the first Talladega race weekend in 1969. France, Sr. not only built NASCAR’s biggest track 45 years ago, but he also promoted it by selling tickets to fans as they entered the Speedway grounds. Kennedy says the weekend is about legacy. And he adds that there are a lot of great stories about Talladega. Kennedy, who ranks 8th in the championships standings says his participation in today’s re-enactment creates a lot of emotional attachment. And Jones, who has won two races for Kyle Busch motorsports this season says his experience at Talladega is totally new. The duo also visited Lincoln Elementary students.
