Detour Routes: Anniston Eastern Bypass

Work originally scheduled to begin today on the Anniston Eastern Bypass has been postponed until this weekend, due to rain. Weather permitting, at 8 a.m. Saturday, the Alabama Department of Transportation and its contractor will be closing sections of Lindale Drive and Sprague Avenue to perform work in this area. The two sections will be closed at the junction of US-431 for approximately 500 feet north in order for ALDOT’s contractor to perform box culvert drainage work, build a detention area and build the roadbed fill for the Anniston Eastern Bypass to tie into US-431 in the Saks area. Detour routes will be in place as follows: The detour for Lindale Drive will be Whiteside Avenue, which is just south off of US-431, to Patricia Road and back to Lindale Avenue. And, the detour for Sprague Avenue will be Glade Road, which is just north off of US-431 to 49th Street to Bellvue Avenue and back to Sprague Avenue. This will be a prolonged road closure, expected to be completed by Summer 2015. There will be signs in place for the traveling public. At a later date, traffic will be shifted on US-431 to different lanes in order to make the tie in to US-431.
