Longleaf Studios hosted an Open House Happy Hour last night. More than 150 people attended the night of networking, studio tours, food, and entertainment at the 18,000 foot digital media center. Alabama District 12 Senator Del Marsh was among those in attendance. And, he said the studio is helping to bring about economic development. He says there are high standards and high hopes for the growth of the film industry in Alabama. Marsh adds it is a real opportunity just like the growth of Alabama’s automotive manufacturing industry. The studio was established through the Northeast Alabama Entertainment Initiative, Jacksonville State University, and the State of Alabama. It claims the largest green screen production studio in Alabama. Jess Goggans Band front woman Jess Goggans is from the Little River Canyon area and she says she is familiar with the work of the studio. Goggans says people need to come and see the studio. Because, pictures don’t do it justice. Renowned Hollywood actress and Ft.Payne resident Sandra Lafferty, with credits in the Hunger Games, Footloose, and Vampire Diaries also gave a performance at the event. Longleaf Studios is located adjacent to the Jacksonville State University campus.
