National Domestic Violence Round-up

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office participates in a national round-up of outstanding warrants for domestic violence offenses. Four teams comprised of eight deputies were assigned the task of trying to locate people on outstanding warrants for domestic violence, sex offender violations, and offenses such as violations of protection orders. Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson says they have partnered with the warrant task force and local law enforcement agencies to make local residents aware. The Sheriff’s Office also performed a compliance check of the more than 200 sex offenders registered in Calhoun County. The operation led to 12 warrants being issued for violations of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
