Prayer At School Events

The Piedmont City School District received a letter in March from an attorney with the Freedom From Religion Foundation of Madison, Wisconsin about prayer at school events. The letter stated that an unnamed local resident reported that their school system was violating the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution by allowing a prayer to be said over the public address system at home football games. In a statement from the school posted to their Facebook page, the school states that the school system's attorneys advised that they consent since there is established case law regarding this issue. We are reaching out to talk to both sides of this issue and will provide an update as soon as we hear back from the foundation and the school system.
