Cellphones confiscated from Alabama prison inmates are being used to help domestic violence victims. Today, First Lady Dianne Bentley donated more than 4,000 unused cellphones to HopeLine from Verizon. Since she began working with the program in 2012, Mrs. Bentley has donated more than 15,000 cellphones to HopeLine. The program collects cellphones and accessories and then sells or recycles them for domestic violence victims and shelters. The largest source of donations is the state Department of Corrections.
