The Calhoun County Commission and the Calhoun County Department of Tourism are bringing a truly unique show to our area that involves projects from 4-H and Future Farmers of America youth. At yesterday’s Calhoun County Commission meeting they announced this weekend’s Alabama Youth Livestock Show that will take place at the Calhoun County Agri Center. District 4 Calhoun County Commissioner J-D Hess says it gives the community an opportunity to support young people who have taken on the responsibility of raising sheep and hogs. Calhoun County Director of Tourism and Show Coordinator Mary Patchunka says there will be plenty of awards to go around. 26 youth from across the state will be showcasing 76 market lambs on Saturday and 150 hogs on Sunday. The first annual but next to last Market Lamb Show will take place on Saturday beginning at 1:00PM. And, the 2014 Calhoun County Hog Show Market Hogs and breeding Gilts show will take place on Sunday starting at 1:00PM.
