Halloween Safety Tips

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Todd Entrekin would like to encourage everyone to play it safe on Halloween.  And today, they share Halloween Safety Tips for trick-or-treaters. Authorities say remember to: plan your route in advance, never go out alone, walk on sidewalks, stay in well lighted areas, and wear light-colored costumes or use reflective tape.  Parents are encouraged to check to see if a sex offender lives in a neighborhood and to pin a slip of paper with your child’s name, address & telephone number inside of their clothing.  Drivers need to keep an eye open for children, use caution when traveling and obey posted traffic signs.  They want to remind homeowners to have a well-lit home both inside and out to prevent vandalism and injuries.
