City Council Approves New Flyer Tax Abatement for $13 Million Expansion

The Anniston City Council approves a tax abatement for the city’s largest industrial employer with an expansion project estimated at over $13 million. New Flyer, formally known as North American Bus Industries, is retooling their Anniston facility with capital investment projects in their welding, general, and line areas and stations. Officials say as a result of the plant’s strong performance, New Flyer has decided to further invest into the Anniston facility in order to transition to production of New Flyer’s Xcelsior product line to this plant. The list of capital investments to the Anniston facility include live bus terminals, compressed air drops, fiberglass and plywood flooring vacuum systems, and parking lot expansion. The Anniston facility is an original equipment manufacturer with 680 positions in its current workforce.
