GSCC Project Blows Up During NASA Launch

Yesterday was to be a monumental day for Electronic Engineering students at Gadsden State Community College. Students, faculty, and family were at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia to observe the launch of the Orbital 3 rocket to the International Space Station. One of their experiments was on board the rocket when it exploded shortly after liftoff. Faculty Adviser for the Gadsden State NASA Team, Audrey Webb, said the team was less than two miles from the rocket launch. G-S-C-C Electronics Engineering student Corey Edwards who served as the team leader for the project that was going to the space station was at yesterday’s launch. He said it took a few hours for the gravity of the event to sink in. But, he adds that he has confidence in NASA and Orbital to get things fixed and flying, again.Webb says they should hear back from NASA in the next couple of days and expect to have the experiment ready for launch in the next couple of months.
