Illegal Gambling Machines in Etowah County
The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office is warning area convenience stores and night clubs that new electronic game machines that some places have recently installed may actually be illegal gambling devices. Sheriff Todd Entrekin says that the machines are starting to pop up again throughout the county and that he has issued a warning to all of the businesses that Alabama’s anti-gambling laws will be enforced in Etowah County. The sheriff says that deputies visited more than 80 local convenience stores over the weekend to help spread the word to store owners. He adds that anyone who has a machine – and would like to have it inspected – should call his office. Sheriff’s office officials say that the investigation into the illegal machines is ongoing and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
