Area economic development agencies and several Chambers of Commerce put on the first Northeast Alabama Regional Business Summit, today in Anniston. The Calhoun County, Cleburne County, Gadsden/Etowah County Chambers of Commerce and the Randolph County Economic Development Authority met at the Civilian Marksmanship Program to talk about the state of the economy. The featured speakers were President of the Alabama Retail Association, Rick Brown, and the District Director for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Alabama Office, Tom Todt (TOTE). Todt (TOTE) says Calhoun County’s economy has changed and is making a strong comeback. He says today’s summit helps give a forecast of local businesses activities. The event hosted a continental breakfast and was sponsored by Jacksonville State University, Alabama Power, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
