Veterans’ Recognition Day

Saturday, November 8, 2014

The city of Lincoln hosts its annual Veteran’s Recognition Day, today.

The event took place at Randolph Park in Old Town Lincoln. The city paid tribute to the brave men and women of our military.  The ceremony included the reading of the names of the veterans who served and the ringing of a bell for those veterans who are deceased.  City of Lincoln Mayor Bud Kitchin says he believes that every city and town needs to continue to honor veterans. Today’s event was special for another reason.  The city was able to recognize the valiant service of former Councilman H.H. Kurt Kuykendall (KIKENDALL)  Jr. They presented his family with the flag that flew over the city hall when he died.  They also gave his family a plaque and a Council name badge.
