Repairs will soon get underway at 10th Street Elementary School in Anniston where a car crashed into the playground this morning. A Piedmont woman was driving her car northwest on Henry Road. She approached a stop sign and found that her brakes were not working. She managed to avoid several other cars and then crashed into a guardrail. The car entered the school playground and stopped beneath a swing set. Anniston City Schools Superintendent Darren Douthitt says no children were on the playground because of inclement weather. The crash injured one person in the car. The other two passengers in the vehicle were taken to Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Douthitt says he will be requesting the guardrail to be re-enforced to stop cars at the fence.
