Midterm Election Mapping Error

Saturday, November 15, 2014

A mapping error during the recent November 4th Midterm election in a district precinct causes officials to investigate the polling outcome of a local House race.  One of the candidates for House District 40 contacted Probate Judge Alice Martin in regards to calls he received from voters who thought they lived in House District 40. That particular polling place which is on a street where 9 registered voters live had a split precinct – meaning it had two different ballot styles.  The mapping error labeled their precinct House District 36.  The district should have been labeled House District 40.  Calhoun County Judge of Probate Alice Martin says they have looked closely into the issue. Judge Martin says they have resolved the issue with the voters who contacted the candidate. The omission was on a newly drawn district map.
