AHSAA Makes Ruling in Wellborn-Oakman Altercation

The Alabama High School Athletic Association has made a ruling that is a big blow to a local football team.

Six Wellborn players will serve a suspension for an altercation that happened after Friday’s second round home playoff game against Oakman. TV24 Sports spoke with head coach Jeff Smith Monday night and confirmed the suspensions by the AHSAA. Names of the players involved in the altercation were not released. Likewise, penalties for Oakman High School players involved in the altercation were also not disclosed. Wellborn will still serve as host for this Friday night's quarterfinal playoff game against defending 3A state champion Madison Academy.
