The Calhoun County Family Career Community Leaders of America promotes its motto of personal growth and leadership with an event to encourage unity in its chapters.
Today, this first F-C-C-L-A rally in thirteen years was held at the Oxford Hilton.
Pleasant Valley High School Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and event coordinator Paige Shaddix says she’s wanted to do this for a long time. Today’s event included a F-C-C-L-A State Officer as guest speaker and also a Beef Cook-off . Judges were community leaders from Calhoun County. White Plains High School Junior Kelsea Lloyd won the cook-off with her cooked fajita beef egg rolls. She says the club does more than just stay in the classroom. Students also participate in community projects that teach them about service. F-C-C-L-A is a national Career and Technical Student Organization that provides career preparation opportunities for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education.
