The House Passes Defense Policy Bill: U.S. Congress

The House has passed a massive defense policy bill that authorizes approximately $600 billion in spending for 2015. The bill includes money to pay for a wide range of Pentagon programs, pay and benefits for members of the Armed Forces and funding to train and equip Syrian rebels fighting ISIS. The measure would also continue to prevent the administration from transferring prisoners from Guantanamo Bay to the United States. The Senate is expected to take up the measure next week.
