Community Service Block Grants
Alabama Governor Bentley has awarded $2.9 million in grants – to help low-income individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency and emerge from poverty. A total of 21 Community Service Block Grants, will be given to Regional Community Service agencies covering all 67 Alabama counties. A grant in the amount of $227,742 – has been awarded to the Community Action Agency of Northeast Alabama, which serves Cherokee County in addition to Blount, DeKalb, Jackson, Marshall and St. Clair counties. A grant of $63,856 has been awarded to the Community Action of Etowah County Inc. And a grant of $171,681 has been awarded to Community Action Agency of Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Calhoun, and Cleburne Counties.
