Cedar Bluff Police Chase

A pursuit over the weekend in Cedar Bluff resulted in one person being arrested on drug charges with officers still searching for the driver of the vehicle. According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver a Cedar Bluff Police Officer along with Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported as suspicious on someone’s property on Saturday. The vehicle pulled over near the Cedar Bluff Park and as a deputy exited his patrol car, the driver sped away with another patrol car pursuing him down Main Street near the high school baseball field. Both the suspect and a Deputy crashed at the intersection of Main St and Highway 68 with the driver fleeing on foot through a wooded area. The driver has been identified by police as Stanley Ray Jones –Shaver said that felony warrants on Jones are expected to be signed this week. Jones also had active warrants on him at the time of the incident. A female passenger was also arrested on drug charges.
