Missing Man’s Remains Identified

The remains of a man, missing since June, were discovered December 9 in a wooded area in Irondale, and have finally been identified. The skeletal remains found in a wooded Irondale area have been identified as 43-year-old Calhoun County resident Roy Gene Pelfrey. Irondale police Detective Michael Mangina says his skull was found December 9 by men riding four-wheelers in the area off of Richardson Avenue, which runs parallel to Interstate 459. The identification was made by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office who spent several days searching the area. Mangina said there is no reason to believe a crime was committed and they have not been able to determine a cause of death.
