UA President Judy Bonner Announces Resignation
Today, University of Alabama President Judy Bonner announces her intentions to leave the presidency no later than the end of September. In her official resignation letter to UA Chancellor Robert Witt, Bonner said her announcement will allow the Board of Trustees to open a presidential search in January 2015 and facilitate a smooth administrative transition. Bonner, the university's first woman president, was selected by the Board of Trustees on November 1, 2012, after the sudden resignation of Guy Bailey, who served in the office for less than a semester. Her replacement, who has yet to be determined, will be the school's fourth leader since 2012.
