Residents of one local city take a plunge into chilly waters for a good cause. With dips into icy cold water they vowed to support Venecia (VANEESEEA) Foundation, an organization named after Venecia (VANEESEEA) Butler, a Piedmont resident who began chemotherapy for breast cancer in 2006. City leaders and local community members showed their support on Saturday, with the second annual Piedmont Polar Plunge. Piedmont Mayor Bill Baker was the first to take the plunge into the pool at Piedmont’s aquatic center. Mayor Baker says the city thought to do it again this year because Butler is such a trooper. Participants also made a $10 donation to Venecia’s Foundation which resulted in the raising of more than $2300.
