Woman Escapes From Prison Work Release Program

Authorities continue the search for a woman who escaped from a work release program in Birmingham.

42-year-old Calhoun County resident Sharon Ogle Young fled Saturday night and was last seen in Bessemer shortly after 6:00pm, where she apparently walked away from a work detail, although the Alabama Department of Corrections did not give the exact location. She was last seen wearing a black and white tiger striped shirt with black dress pants and a brown pair of shoes; Young is approximately five-feet-five weighing 180 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. Young was serving 25 years behind bars for shooting her common-law husband back in 2004. Anyone with information regarding her current whereabouts should contact officials at the prison by calling 1-800-831-8825.
