Holiday Traffic Fatalities

Saturday, January 10, 2015

Traffic accidents in Alabama claimed more lives during this year’s Christmas and New Year’s travel period than last year. State Troopers are reporting that 19 people were killed on state highways between December 19 and January 2. The deadly accidents occurred in 13 different counties. Only 3 of the 19 people were using seat belts and one of the victims was a two-month-old baby who was not in an infant seat. Alcohol is believed to have been involved in at least 3 of those fatal accidents. Last year, troopers reported 17 traffic fatalities during the same holiday travel period.
