29th Annual MLK Celebration: Gadsden

The celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. continued tonight in Gadsden. The 29th Annual MLK Celebration was held this evening at Gadsden’s Convention Hall. The event is sponsored by The City of Gadsden and by WMGJ Radio Station. The theme for the celebration was *Remember-Celebrate-Act* and the keynote speaker was Donald Watkins – a well-known attorney and businessman who played a role in integrating many of Gadsden’s government agencies.Watkins says that the foundation laid by Dr. King is the reason that so many are "Living the Dream" today, but that his personal connection to Dr. King taught him one particularly important lesson. At 29-years-old, Gadsden’s Martin Luther King, Jr celebration is one of the oldest in the state…dating all the way back to the first observance of the holiday on January 20th, 1986.
