BP Faces Billion Dollar Penalties

The final phase of the civil trial against B-P was held today in New Orleans. On April 20th, 2010 an explosion at B-P’s deep water horizon drilling rig sent oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico for 87 days. 11 men died in the accident, which impacted hundreds of miles of coastland along the Gulf. This trial determined how much the oil company will have to pay in Clean Water Act fines for the 2010 spill. BP faces 13 billion dollars in penalties for the accident.
