The defense team for Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard has filed a new motion in the ethics violations case against the Republican lawmaker. Hubbard's defense lawyers are asking a judge to force prosecutors to disclose any calls with legislators or executive branch members. They also want copies of any of the conversations that might have been recorded. The defense has already asked for disclosure of media calls. Hubbard's lawyers suspect a prosecutor is trying to influence some state lawmakers. Hubbard is accused of using his public office for personal gain. He has pleaded not guilty to 23 felony ethics charges.
