Suspect Shoots at Law Enforcement Authorities

A Mentone man shoots at law enforcement while trying to avoid being arrested. 52-year-old Carl Jones fired at deputies after he was identified as the suspect firing a gun near a residence. Jones attempted to hide in a nearby home as authorities tried to secure the scene. Jones fired at patrol officers while in the residence and deputies returned fire. No one was injured. Jones then tried to run out of a back door and was taken into custody after a brief struggle. According to Dekalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris, Jones had a large tactical knife in his hand when arrested and had a .38 revolver in his coat pocket. Investigators also found 13 firearms, Methamphetamines, Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia. Jones faces Attempted Murder and numerous drug-related charges. He is being held in the DeKalb County Detention Center. Bond has not been set.
