Honda, Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz

Alabama automakers set a production record last year. Honda, Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz combined to manufacture more than 990,000 vehicles in the state in 2014. That's 80,000 more vehicles than the previous high set in 2013. That's according to the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama. The group reports that Hyundai led state producers by turning out almost 400,000 Elantra and Sonata sedans at its factory south of Montgomery. Honda produced more than 360,000 vehicles at its plant in Talladega County. The facility makes the Odyssey minivan, the Pilot S-U-V and the Acura M-D-X. And Mercedes-Benz produced more than 235,000 vehicles in Vance. Those include the M-Class and the G-L sport-utility vehicles, the R-Class and the C-Class sedan.
