Judicial Ethics Complaint Against Alabama Chief Justice

The Southern Poverty Law Center has filed a judicial ethics complaint against Alabama Chief Justice, Roy Moore. The complaint stems from Moore’s criticism of a federal judge’s ruling in favor of same-sex marriage. Moore stated that it is, “judicial tyranny.” SPLC’s president, Richard Cohen, claims that Moore is repeating behavior from twelve years ago when he refused to follow a federal court order to remove his Ten Commandments monument from the lobby of the state judicial building. Moore was removed from office for not removing the monument, when the SPLC filed a complaint with the Judicial Inquiry Commission. He was re-elected chief justice in 2012.
