School Choice Week

A rally to bring about awareness for alternative education systems, such as charter schools, private schools and other public schools in Alabama brings together hundreds of parents and students in Montgomery, today. The event is part of School Choice Week, a nationwide event to promote educational options for parents. However, House Minority Leader Craig Ford says the agenda should be to promote further support of Alabama education. He says that the goal of public education is to make sure every child gets a quality education. ord adds that the problem with charter schools and the Accountability Act's scholarship granting organizations is that not every kid gets a choice or a chance. According to reports, some of the groups present during the rally included Students First Alabama, the Alabama Coalition for Public Charter Schools, and the Business Council of Alabama.
