Shelter Etowah Prep Meeting: Etowah County

Emergency shelter managers from all over Etowah County met today with the Gadsden-Etowah County EMA for the pre-severe-weather-season meeting of the Shelter Etowah program. Shelter Etowah was started by the EMA to make sure that as many Etowah County residents as possible have an emergency shelter near their home in case of severe weather. Today’s meeting was a *pre-season* meeting to make sure that all of the approved shelters and local media were on board and ready for the upcoming severe weather season which peaks in April. EMA Operations Manager Michael Amberson says that Shelter Etowah has come a long way from the original three shelters it started with. The EMA reminds everyone to pay close attention to local media during a severe weather emergency and when you need to know about the status of the shelters near you, check in at www.shelteretowah.com or download the Shelter Etowah smartphone apps from the Google Play Store or from iTunes.
