Habitat for Humanity House #45 Dedication: Gadsden

A worldwide organization that believes everyone should have an affordable place to call home helps transform the life of a Gadsden . The Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity is more than just a service organization that builds homes. It builds communities and builds hope and opportunities for families to help themselves. New Habitat homeowner Cynthia Pierre has worked on 5 other Habitat homes besides her own. And, today, she attended an official dedication ceremony for her own home. For many years Pierre lived in substandard housing. But, now with the support of various members of her community and her own sweat and sacrifice, she now calls Summit Avenue home. Pierre says getting a new home and volunteering to bring it to completion makes the effort well worth it. She adds that she’s looking forward to helping others achieve the goal of homeownership. This is the 45TH Habitat House. And it was sponsored by the Habitat Dragon Boat Festival Funds.

Tomorrow, there will be a groundbreaking for the 47th Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity Home. The ceremony will take place at 211 Calhoun Drive in Gadsden.
