A request made on behalf of indicted Alabama house Speaker Mike Hubbard has not been well received by the State Attorney General. Luther Strange this week objected to a motion filed by Hubbard's defense lawyers demanding prosecutors disclose phone conversations with legislators and the media. Prosecutors answered with a filing that called the request a "fishing expedition" in search of a baseless claim of misconduct by the prosecution. Hubbard's defense lawyers have said the information is needed because they suspect improper communications. A talk show host recorded an off-record conversation with one of the prosecutors. Hubbard has pleaded not guilty to 23 felony ethics charges. His trial is scheduled for October.
