Downtown Gadsden Chili Cookoff: Etowah County
DGI officials in Gadsden say that they could not have asked for a better weekend for their annual Chili Cookoff. More than 30 teams from around the area came together on Broad Street Saturday to see who has the area's best chili! D.G.I. Director Kay Moore say it was the largest number of competitors in the history of the event. The chili teams lined both sides of Broad Street between 4th Street and 6th Street and offered up as many styles of chili as there were teams. From hot and spicy to mild - with beans and without beans - one team even served their chili "Chicago Style". In the end, only four teams were able to claim victory. DOS HOMBRES BOOM BOOM BOWLS from First Federal Mortgage was awarded First Place. The RED HOT NEWS team from The Gadsden Times came in Second. Third Place was the Schlitz Creek Competitive Eating and Cooking Team from Perennial Lawn Care. And the Crowd Favorite award went to the YA WANNA SMELL IT team from Buffalo Rock.
