28 Year Fugitive: Stanley Self

A 28-year fugitive from the law living in Albertville for years under a stolen identity will soon be returned to Arizona. 74-year-old Stanley Self presented a Rhode Island birth certificate and an Oklahoma driver's license in a Utah resident’s name when he applied for a Social Security number in Albertville on January 5. Self has been a fugitive from Arizona since a state court jury in La Paz County, Arizona convicted him on three felony counts of child molestation in 1982. According to court records, Self had been living under the assumed identity of Terry Harlan Martell, a Utah resident who died in 1987. Social Security Administration agents arrested Self on the complaint February 3. Self was living in Hollywood, Alabama in Jackson County, when he was arrested. He previously had lived in the Birmingham area, with addresses listed in Vestavia Hills and Mulga.
