Carlson Engineered Composites USA, Inc., a Canadian firm that manufactures fiberglass components, plans to expand its operations to Anniston. The company will be investing just under 1million dollars to locate in an existing 67,000-square-foot building on Electronics Drive, which will be purchased by the Calhoun County Economic Development Council and leased to Carlson. Anniston city Manager Brian Johnson says the county and the city have been working on the negotiation together to make the deal possible.The project represents a capital investment of $3 million and will create 75 new jobs in Calhoun County. The city of Anniston will abate a five-thousand dollar Ad Valorem and two-thousand dollar sales tax for the company for 10 years. That's more than thirty-two thousand dollars. According to officials, operations should begin in the first quarter of 2015.
