A highway extension plan of Etowah County's bottlenecked I – 759 was recently taken of the table by policy makers. Alabama House Minority Leader Representative Craig Ford says he and his constituents are calling on their Congressman to help with funding from the state for the project.Craig says its good for the economy and it is a necessity. He says the economic project should be a priority and that the region only needs matching funding of fifteen-million to twenty million dollars from the state over the period of construction. The plan was originally part of a five year highway plan. Many call the interstate a main artery for Gadsden.
