The construction of Kitty Stone Elementary School in Jacksonville is well underway. The Kitty Stone replacement school which is located on a new campus site adjacent to Jacksonville High School is a 94,000 square foot school. It will house Pre-K through 6th grade, with the site and buildings designed to accommodate a future expansion for middle school students. Dr. Jon Campbell says the official groundbreaking will take place this Sunday at 3:00pm if weather permits. The campus is situated at the highly visible corner of James Hopkins Road and George Douthit Drive. The anchor point of the campus is an upgraded gym facility. The location also allows connectivity to the existing Chief Ladiga Trail. The projected date of completion is the end of May 2016.
