Local Police Crack Down on Crime: Heflin

The city of Heflin police department is making an assertive effort to reduce illicit activities in its jurisdiction. Officials say that crimes like human trafficking, kidnapping, identity theft, and a host of other crimes are making their way through the area. Chief A.J. Benefield says because Heflin sits on the I-20 Corridor, its more than just drugs that find their way into the city. Benefield spoke to TV24 today, to stress that the community and his team of law enforcement officers are making a concerted effort to be more effective and more diligent about stopping crime in Heflin. Benefield asks residents to inform authorities any time they see something suspicious in their neighborhood.
