Terry Lathan Elected Chairwoman of the Alabama Republican State Party

A former schoolteacher who has worked 35 years in various leadership positions in the Mobile County G-O-P and the state executive committee has been elected chairwoman of the Alabama Republicans state party. Terry Lathan of Mobile comes to the job after defeating former state Representative Mary Sue McClurkin and it's at a historical high point. The G-O-P holds every statewide office supermajorities in the legislature and controls the state appeals courts. Lathan is an anti-tax advocate, and takes the helm as Republican Governor Robert Bentley pitches a tax hike that many G-O-P activists oppose.
